there is another solution here without installing avahi daemon:

open /etc/init/cups.conf in your texteditor, probably sudo leafpad
change:
start on (filesystem
and started avahi-daemon
and (started dbus or runlevel [2345]))
stop on runlevel [016]
into:
start on (filesystem
and (started dbus or runlevel [2345]))
stop on runlevel [016]
