Phillip,

I am not sure if this will be of any help but I burnt a copy of CentOS
which I think is based on RedHat onto a USB.

Tried to bootload and install. Simply hung.

CentOS has a text mode boot/install option so I selected that and though
I have no means of capturing the data or stopping it without losing
thedata I can see what is happening as things roll up the screen.

This is a synopsis of whot I have seen (could not record it all):

ATA1 Sata
ATA-8 Hitachi
ATA-9 Samsung

  SD - 500 (the Samsung)
  SD - 32 (the Hitachi)

  SD 0:0:0:0 [SDA]
  Attached scsi disk

   sda: sda1 sda2 sda4

The above two lines keep repeating and repeating
