Public bug reported:

It happens after upgrading from ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04. The laptop became
usable. I had to ssh in, and kill the lightdm. After that, I edited the
config file to auto login my user. It worked fine when I started lightdm
from command line.

Ubuntu version: 13.04
lightdm version: 1.6.0-0ubuntu2.1
expected: letting me login
what happened: the login screen froze and started restarting in a loop making
my computer unusable.
