Confirmed. I don't see this corruption with gnome-shell. So I'm starting to
think this is related to unity as opposed to the kernel + X.
Will update the description to reflect this.
** Also affects: unity (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Description changed:
- Hitting the "Windows" key to bring up the dash crashes the system.
- Switching to the console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) shows that the nouveau driver is
- wedged.
+ Hitting the "Windows" key to bring up the dash corrupts the screen from
+ where everything goes downhill. See attached screenshot for example
+ after a few window launches, dash enable/disable, etc.
- Using the nvidia binary drivers don't get me past the login screen.
+ Logging in with gnome-shell doesn't show these artifacts.
+
+ I'm use the xorg-edgers PPA now with a 3.9 mainline kernel to try and
+ debug the problem.
