Events started working for me a few days ago, now power indicator reflects changes when I plug or unplug the AC. Weird since I didn't do any hardware/battery reset and did not even do any major kernel updates - or maybe I missed noticing the improvement after updating something. Something from daily updates? The bug is still open on the Linux kernel bugtracker and some have confirmed it even in 3.9.
