This is a problem in the Linux kernel that is present for a while. It seems that the Linux kernel under some unknown conditions bastardizes the SCSI command on it's way from the user space to the drive while talking to ATAPI drives.
I have been able to verify a similar problem (in my case with cdd2wav and the READ FULL TOC command). In all cases, the drives will return a "illegal field in CDB" error and booting the same hardware with Solaris let's the problem disappear. -- CD-RW erasing fails on QSI drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/13729 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
