** Changed in: synaptic (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: update-notifier => synaptic
   Importance: Undecided => Low
       Status: New => Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Update Applet pops up "nameless window"
+ Update Applet pops up "nameless window" (synaptic confirmation window)

** Description changed:

+ Synaptic should set a window caption for the dialog when it is run
+ without parent window (--hide-main-window).
+
  When right-clicking on the orange update icon (upper panel, on the right
  side) and selecting the second menu item ("Install all updates"), a
  window pops up that has no title. Hence, in task bar it is displayed as
  "namenloses Fenster" ("nameless window") instead of having a meaningful
  title (see screenshot below).

  IMHO there are two problems with the missing title:
  - it conveys a sense of "unfinished system" :-)
  - the dialog itself is not that easy to understand (for me), so a title could
give the user an additional hint what that application actually wants from him
