Hi Max, Download the 3.1.10 kernel from the Ubuntu website. $ wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.1.10-precise/linux-image-3.1.10-030110-generic_3.1.10-030110.201201181135_amd64.deb
Install it. $ sudo dpkg -i linux-image-3.1.10-030110-generic_3.1.10-030110.201201181135_amd64.deb Restart the laptop and tap the [Esc] key during bootup to open the Grub menu, select and boot the 3.1.10 kernel. Once at the desktop test to see if you have audio, if not you may need to add these lines to your alsa-base.conf file. You may need to reboot afterwords. alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=3stack If sound works, update your grub config to boot the 3.1.10 kernel by default. I used the grub-customizer app since it has a GUI. $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install grub-customizer Purus -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1178897 Title: No sound on laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1178897/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
