It seems Gutsy as a new feature (maybe is GNOME's...): if you choose Places -> Computer and then you right click on the partition(s) or whatever is ther, selcet Properties, you get a nice "cake chart" with free and used space in two different color... It's a little longer path to get, but the visual effect is more direct and nice.
