Friends, I think i found a solution in this site http://www.ece.iit.edu/~jgrad/lyx/
1. Download the cls file you need. 2. cd /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/lyx cp ~/IEEEtran.cls . mktexlsr . That is all. Then open lyx and tools>reconfigure It fixed the same error that i was getting when i open the IEEEtran template, saying no class found.
