Currently there are three ways to scroll the Launcher: - Click anywhere inside the launcher and drag up or down - Move the pointer to the top or bottom of the launcher to scroll via the auto-scroll behaviour - Scroll the launcher with their keyboard by entering the Launcher ALT+F1 keyboard navigation mode
In Unity 8, users will also be able to scroll the Launcher via direct touch manipulation if they have a touch screen (by touching the Launcher on the screen and dragging their finger up or down). So with 3 different ways of scrolling the Launcher today, and 4 in the future with Unity 8 I think we are well covered for Launcher scrolling mechanisms. We are now using mouse wheel scrolling over the Launcher icons as a window switching shortcut, and this conflicts with using the mouse wheel to scroll the launcher. Given the above conflict, 'won't fix' is the correct status for this bug. In the future when we can respond differently to different types of input device in Unity 8, we will investigate adding an indirect manipulation (trackpad) gesture for scrolling the launcher. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173623 Title: Launcher - Mouse wheel and touchpad two finger/edge scrolling doesn't permit navigating through icons anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1173623/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
