Ali, it's safe if you can trust the network. If you are at home, using your wireless network, and you trust that your internet provider won't try to steal your facebook identity, then it's fine. If you cannot trust your internet provider, or you are using some open wireless network which you don't manage yourself, then don't use this trick.
