Same problem on a Dell Inspiron 8600. Reduced colour depth and wrong colours from docking station DVI output. nvidia-glx package & official nVidia driver (1.0-9639). Affects tty's & GUI from time nvidia is loaded until reboot (i.e can't fix in single user).
nVidia 4200 Go. Samsung 172X DFP. Laptop LCD disabled.
