I have a first idea what's wrong. If you use amd64 (64 bit
installation), could you please download and install the .debs from
http://people.canonical.com/~pitti/tmp/systemd/ ? Download to /tmp, then
cd /tmp
sudo dpkg -iO *.deb
Then reboot?
If that still does not help, can you please check whether you see the
devices in /dev/mapper/ when you land in the initramfs console?
