While I get that this is "cleaner" in Grub2 (Ubuntu, advanced options), it's not useful at all. The choice of what to display should be left up to the user, and the config for grub2 is not nearly as user friendly as it used to be.
I'd propose the two patches found at: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1078788#p1078788 (Plus the modification to /etc/default/grub) which I have updated for Ubuntu. I've patched several computers and currently use this on all of them with no issues. ** Patch added: "grub-menu.diff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/898110/+attachment/3691624/+files/grub-menu.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/898110 Title: please remove the "Previous Linux versions" sub-menu and display all kernels again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/898110/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
