Fresh install of Raring 64bit with all updates as of this moment. I can
confirm this issue and add some detail. I've used the Marlin file
manager rather than Nautilus and it doesn't change anything. I'm unable
to play media files over 200mb, it locks up every time and I cannot kill
vlc at all other than closing the interface with Alt+F4. Media files
under 200mb play correctly 90% of the time without locking vlc up. Totem
(or "Videos") can play all the same media files, all the time with no
issues. I've attempted to get a debug log from vlc but it crashes so
early/hard that it never logs anything to the debug log.
