It turns out removing the line "system-ca-certs=true" from the
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/<network id> file seems to have
allowed me to connect to the network. The nm-applet stills asks me for
my password a few times, I don't know if it is related, but at least it
does eventually connect.
