I have stepped through all available kernel from -19 to -24.
The last with which I am able to have backlight control working is the
-22 (in fact almost working : after booting backlight does not work, but
then if I suspend/resume the machine backlight control is working
again).
I also tried mainline kernel 3.9.0-030900-generic which does not work
either.
I also tried xorg-edger nvidia drivers (319) with all tested kernels
(all but the 3.9) but nothing worked.
Now I use -22 kernel and nvidia-313-updates.
Remember that I get this very same trouble with an Apple MacBookPro10,1
not with the Dell machine specified in this bug report. Do you think I
should file a more general bug with reference to this one ?
