Hello Chris, I updated the description to make it more relevant present day. Although I see your concern about the diacriticals, it was your configuration. However, it's a good suggestion.
** Description changed: Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs - The page https://help.ubuntu.com/11.04/ubuntu-help/tips- - specialchars.html mentions the "Compose" key, but omits the efficient - method that my configuration has as default for diacriticals: i.e. press - "AltGr" (the alt key right of space bar) together with ; ' or # to - produce the 3 most common: acute, circumflex and grave, over the next - character pressed. + https://help.ubuntu.com/13.04/ubuntu-help/tips-specialchars.html + + The page mentions the "Compose" key, but omits the efficient method that + my configuration has as default for diacriticals: i.e. press "AltGr" + (the alt key right of space bar) together with ; ' or # to produce the 3 + most common: acute, circumflex and grave, over the next character + pressed. I realise there are a huge number of keyboards (mine is a standard UK version), but I expect other keyboards have similar combinations which are somewhat more efficient/specific compared with the methods presented. ** Tags added: doc ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786734 Title: Enter special characters page omits the AltGr key To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/786734/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
