Yes, this solution essentially disables ACPI backlight support on Win8
systems when i915 registers a backlight interface. Testing seems to
indicate that Win8 isn't using the ACPI backlight interface, and thus
we can't assume that firmware vendors have actually tested this
interface to verify that it actually works (problems with the ACPI
backlight interfaces on Win8 machines haven't been isolated to only
Lenovos).
