I can confirm that as kees says, this is no longer reproducable in 0.44 in Edgy.
The behaviour is still odd in a way, in terms of consistency. If you hide it, then unhide it, the hide/unhide actions are not on the undo stack. If you just hide, then undo, you will undo the hide. If you hide, modify the diagram, then unhide, the undo will undo the unhide. It appears that a hide then unhide immediately will cancel each other out in the undo stack.
