Hi, i have had similar problem after upgrading to feisty I think it only have happen after one or more suspends, but not not sure. The sympton is that the machine gets heavly loaded, uses lots of CPU (and IO, not sure). Dont think the kernel hangs, but userland gets really messed up.
One time, not sure it is a coincidence, it started to get really slow after i got back and changed between some firefox tabs.. which probably had its memory swapped out. I could probably try to disable the swap and see if it still happens, but it really hard to reproduce. I have run memtest86+, but not the full test, did not find any errors I have run mkswap -c on my swap partition, did not find any bad blocks Linux florian 2.6.20-15-generic #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:36:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux apport (pid 1884) Sat Jul 7 00:19:20 2007: called for pid 5978, signal 11 apport (pid 1884) Sat Jul 7 00:19:20 2007: executable: /usr/bin/gnome-power-manager (command line "gnome-power-manager") apport (pid 1884) Sat Jul 7 00:19:31 2007: wrote report /var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-power-manager.1000.crash apport (pid 1896) Sat Jul 7 00:19:33 2007: called for pid 6289, signal 6 apport (pid 1896) Sat Jul 7 00:19:33 2007: executable: /usr/lib/notification-daemon/notification-daemon (command line "/usr/lib/notification-daemon/notification-daemon") apport (pid 1927) Sat Jul 7 00:20:26 2007: called for pid 6115, signal 11 apport (pid 1927) Sat Jul 7 00:20:26 2007: executable: /usr/bin/gnome-terminal (command line "gnome-terminal --working-directory=") apport (pid 1927) Sat Jul 7 00:20:26 2007: apport: report /var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-terminal.1000.crash already exists and unseen, doing nothing to avoid disk usage DoS apport (pid 1930) Sat Jul 7 00:20:35 2007: called for pid 4931, signal 6 apport (pid 1930) Sat Jul 7 00:20:35 2007: executable: /usr/bin/Xorg (command line "/usr/X11R6/bin/X :0 -br -audit 0 -auth /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth -nolisten tcp vt7") apport (pid 1932) Sat Jul 7 00:20:35 2007: called for pid 15290, signal 11 apport (pid 1932) Sat Jul 7 00:20:35 2007: executable: /usr/bin/ssh (command line "ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]") apport (pid 1934) Sat Jul 7 00:20:36 2007: called for pid 2496, signal 11 apport (pid 1934) Sat Jul 7 00:20:36 2007: executable: /sbin/udevd (command line "/sbin/udevd --daemon") apport (pid 1936) Sat Jul 7 00:20:37 2007: called for pid 6105, signal 11 apport (pid 1936) Sat Jul 7 00:20:37 2007: executable: /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver (command line "gnome-screensaver") apport (pid 1936) Sat Jul 7 00:20:38 2007:apport (pid 1932) Sat Jul 7 00:20:41 2007: wrote report /var/crash/_usr_bin_ssh.1000.crash apport: report /var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-screensaver.1000.crash already exists and unseen, doing nothing to avoid disk usage DoS apport (pid 1943) Sat Jul 7 00:20:41 2007: called for pid 5956, signal 11 apport (pid 1943) Sat Jul 7 00:20:41 2007: executable: /usr/bin/gnome-volume-manager (command line "gnome-volume-manager --sm-client-id default4") apport (pid 1945) Sat Jul 7 00:20:41 2007: called for pid 5925, signal 11 apport (pid 1945) Sat Jul 7 00:20:41 2007: executable: /usr/bin/dbus-launch (command line "/usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /usr/bin/gnome-session") apport (pid 1945) Sat Jul 7 00:20:41 2007: apport: report /var/crash/_usr_bin_dbus-launch.1000.crash already exists and unseen, doing nothing to avoid disk usage DoS apport (pid 1934) Sat Jul 7 00:20:45 2007: apport: report /var/crash/_sbin_udevd.0.crash already exists and unseen, doing nothing to avoid disk usage DoS apport (pid 1943) Sat Jul 7 00:20:45 2007: wrote report /var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-volume-manager.1000.crash apport (pid 1957) Sat Jul 7 00:20:53 2007: called for pid 4591, signal 6 apport (pid 1957) Sat Jul 7 00:20:53 2007: executable: /usr/sbin/acpid (command line "/usr/sbin/acpid -c /etc/acpi/events -s /var/run/acpid.socket") apport (pid 1963) Sat Jul 7 00:20:57 2007: called for pid 4765, signal 11 apport (pid 1963) Sat Jul 7 00:20:57 2007: executable: /usr/lib/hal/hald-runner (command line "hald-runner") apport (pid 1963) Sat Jul 7 00:20:57 2007: apport: report /var/crash/_usr_lib_hal_hald-runner.0.crash already exists and unseen, doing nothing to avoid disk usage DoS -- system freezes with multiple applications crashed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
