No, booting with the previous kernel does not fix the issue. The only way to figure out which package it is, is to revert everything to the version of a very days ago, and then install all the updates that have been released since then one by one until the issue appears.
Or uninstall updates in reverse chronological order from now backwards, until it disappears. Whatever is faster. It must be either flash player itself, or something graphics-related.
