Hi Gary, since you are the second person to comment in recent days could you tell us what was updated? /var/log/dpkg.log has the info in it. find /var/lib/dpkg/info/ -name \*.list -mtime -3 | sed 's#.list$##;s#.*/##' will print out the commands from the last day. Could you post the output? I think this may help to see if everyone has updated to a certain version of Unity/Compiz, etc...
