I was able to run a scan /dev/sdb using gparted and it resolved the
alignment issues as seen in post #2's attached screenshot.

It would be prudent and I highly reccomend building in better checking &
error message delivery to users who have issues with their GPT drives,
this would help them identify the problem they need to fix much faster.
