I can now confirm this bug in 3.8.23, 3.8.22 and 3.8.21. The latest kernel is also effected (see attached kernel.log):
Linux ubuntu64 3.10.0-031000rc7-generic #201306221735 SMP Sat Jun 22 21:35:55 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux However, with the latest kernel there is a slight improvement. The system does not freeze anymore, but only kills the most memory consuming processes in a cascade until it finally kills the X-server. At this point it is possible to log into the shell and savely reboot with init 6. ** Attachment added: "kern.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1193460/+attachment/3714778/+files/kern.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1193460 Title: System becomes irresponsive at random To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1193460/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
