This bug went away when I disabled the Global Menubar Integration
extension/add-on. However, even though I still have the Global Menubar
Integration extension disabled, it has now returned with a new version
of Firefox as a result of recent updates to 12.04. I note that the
Global Menubar Integration is no long shown in Firefox's list of add-ons
(obtained using men item Tools>Add-ons).
PS I had the Global Menubar Integration extension disabled because it
caused delays in displaying the contents of Bookmarks folders as well as
causing this bug.
