Public bug reported:

Software Center fails install when there's not enough disk space. But
only after going through all the motions.

This is a problem because you are most likely not going to know your
disk is full untill an application tells you. Software Center doesn't
tell you, it just fails - and it does this after apparently installing
the software. I.e. it appears to get to the end of the install process
(progress bar) before it fails.

Two problems here:

1. Software center fails to detect that the software it is trying to
install is too big for the space available - until it actually runs out
of space;

2. Software center fails to inform the user that there is not enough
space, how much free space there is, and how much space is needed.

So its going through the motions and then crashing when it runs out of
space. It gives this error: "Pack operation failed".

It does rather defeat the object of having a user-friendly software
installer if its common errors are not caught and handled in a user
friendly fashion.
