by looking at /var/log/daemon.log , it looks like I have the same
problem.

I noticed that if I'm connected to the wired network, and I choose via
the network-manager to use the wireless network, it works.

But if I have no connection and try to activate the wireless it fails.
(including at boot time, or if I kill the wireless connection and try to
restart it again just after.)
