Confirm; we'll fix this properly soon.
The issue comes from the fact that NetworkManager itself modifies that
file when you change your default ethernet connection, even once, for
things like adding an automatic VPN, having static IP addresses, etc.
NM must not write to that file, and should keep its hints (that users
aren't likely to change anyway) to itself in some file in
/var/lib/NetworkManager like the last-connected values.
