Just to confirm, withi Saucy, you are getting further with nomodeset specified? Once you specify nomodeset are you able to sucessfully install Saucy? If so, do you still need to specify nomodeset to boot sucessfully?
Also, it now sounds like Raring does not exhibit this bug? If so, it would be good to have someone with a working raring install try the saucy kernel[0] (with the expectation it would need nomodeset to work). The Saucy kernel .debs can be found by selecting a specific arch under "Builds". If the Saucy kernel does require nomodeset to boot on a Raring install, we can then perform a kernel bisect to identify the commit that introduced this regression.
