If you zoom into the images in the attachments (#31, 32, #33) it looks
like Plasma is using *grayscale* anti-aliased fonts.  On my LCD monitor,
RGB sub-pixel anti-aliased fonts look better, and zooming into these
fonts in the attached images, you will see slight color fringes on the
characters).

In System Settings, I have enabled "Use sub-pixel rendering."  I have
selected "RGB" from the drop down.  I have selected Hint style "Full"
from the drop down.  And I have de-selected "Exclude range."

Additionally, under Desktop Effects | Advanced, I have selected "Native"
from the drop  down as the QT graphics system.  I am using an Intel
graphics chip.

Nevertheless, the Plasma widgets seem to ignore my sub-pixel rendering
selection in System Settings.
