If you zoom into the images in the attachments (#31, 32, #33) it looks like Plasma is using *grayscale* anti-aliased fonts. On my LCD monitor, RGB sub-pixel anti-aliased fonts look better, and zooming into these fonts in the attached images, you will see slight color fringes on the characters).
In System Settings, I have enabled "Use sub-pixel rendering." I have selected "RGB" from the drop down. I have selected Hint style "Full" from the drop down. And I have de-selected "Exclude range." Additionally, under Desktop Effects | Advanced, I have selected "Native" from the drop down as the QT graphics system. I am using an Intel graphics chip. Nevertheless, the Plasma widgets seem to ignore my sub-pixel rendering selection in System Settings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921555 Title: Plasma panel and menu don't follow font hinting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdebase-workspace/+bug/921555/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
