Hi all,

maybe I can provide a little workaround after debugging the issue a bit:
The root cause seems to be that the hal daemon does not start up
correctly. Seems that after the upgraded to 13.04 the directory /etc/hal
was "incomplete". However, /usr/share/hal seems to be a reasonable
replacement ... at least for a workaround:

mv /etc/hal /etc/hal.old
ln -s /usr/share/hal /etc/hal

With this simple change, pmi works again for me.

No idea if this is a solution or a workaround. Does anyone know what the
correct state of /etc/hal should be in a fresh 13.04 installation?

BR,
      Martin
