Binary package hint: usplash
I am using an Asus a8n-sli deluxe motherboard running the latest 1805
stable bios. I have an Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS 256MB, 2 GB of ddr400 Mhz
mem and a AMD Athlon64 x2 3800+ cpu.
When i boot either feisty of gutsy on my machine with usplash enabled i
get the following error.
MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work! Try using the
'noapic' kernel paramter.
if i disable usplash by removing it from the kernel boot paramater, the
system boots normally and works fine.
