Hi. The output from the terminal command you gave me is: 1801 06/08/2010
The old BIOS version was 0704 and its build date was 05/19/09. After updating the BIOS, I shut down the system and rebooted. Then I tried to run Thunderbird and the system crashed. After a cold boot, I tried to run Thunderbird again, and this time it ran. Then I was also able to load Firefox from a link in Thunderbird, which the system would do sometimes with the old BIOS, but rarely. Right now it is hard to say whether or not updating the BIOS helped at all, but it does not look like it solved the problem entirely since Thunderbird crashed as soon as I tried to load it after the new BIOS was installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176062 Title: System usually crashes when starting Firefox and/or Thunderbird To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1176062/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
