Public bug reported:
Been happening for some time in 13.10 though this is a fairly new install &
didn't think about till tonight when r. click menu starting opening slow.
Can't see what causes, but happens now & again.
Seems to do varied things -
May run for a short time, (15 -20 secs), with one core maxed & go from normal
7000kB to 30+ MB, then stop maxing core & remain steady.
Other times will go on with max cpu for some time with initial increased mem,
then mem increase will stop but cpu use stays high (1 core maxed.
Other times will max cpu & increase mem till killed, screen show that, after 20
min 1.6 GB
