I have same issue, netbeans freezes on autocomplete. To restart it, I
have to kill java, only to have it froozen again. This started happening
after last update. BTW, I'm posting this for 2nd time since 1st time
Chrome frooze and killing Java process helped there as well, so it seems
as both issues have something to do with java jre.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04LTS, 64bit on ASUS K95V laptop.

Also, I cannot update netbeans through About dialog, since it freezes
there as well while scanning for available plugins.
