Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
It looks like you're missing the /etc/init.d/.legacy-bootordering file, which should have been created by the sysv-rc package. Please could you check if you have this file? What does the output of the command "dpkg- query -W sysv-rc" give you? Assuming you haven't changed anything fundamental about the init system on your system, you might be able to fix the problem by typing "sudo touch /etc/init.d/.legacy-bootordering" at a Terminal, and then "sudo apt-get -f install". But this does seem like a local configuration problem to me, rather than a bug. If this is indeed a local configuration problem, you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1206547 Title: package winbind (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 255 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1206547/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
