Quick testing with RHEL6.4 and SLES 11 SP3 in BIOS mode: Neither OS successfully works in BIOS mode. RHEL6 will complete the initial installation but when attempting to boot from the HDD, I am presented with a black screen and blinking cursor and that's it. This is on par with how Fedora 19 behaved in BIOS mode as well as Ubuntu 13.10 / 13.04.
SLES 11 will also appear to work fine until it gets to the bootloader installation stage and we fail with the attached photo. So for EFI mode, SLES appears to use ELILO but defaults to grub for BIOS installations. RHEL6.4 and SLES11 SP3 both work fine with 4k/4k disks in EFI mode. RHEL6 uses a patched legacy grub while SLES uses elilo. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1065281 Title: Installer crashed when trying to partition 4k/4k sector hard disks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-poweredge/+bug/1065281/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
