1. The original poster (Roman Stingler) clearly stated this: "When I downgrade gtk3* from 3.8.2-1 to 3.4.2-6 it works again." Unfortunately, he marked the bug as "done" while there was no fix but only a local workaround.
2. The bug affect a lot more software and is really in gtk3-engines-unico: http://bugs.debian.org/706330 The error messages shown there are visible via dmesg. 3. The bug appeared after upgrading libgtk-3 to 3.8.0, which is the case for Debian Testing but not yet the case for Ubuntu (unless you wish to report bugs for Saucy, which is not released yet). ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #706330 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=706330 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1186542 Title: [synaptic] crashes when started it in terminal with and without sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptic/+bug/1186542/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
