I am also having difficulties. I'm on 13.04. I've installed the patches. I've always had HDMI as an option. I noticed that when I installed pulse volume, I can see the meter move when I play test sounds through alsa. I just can't hear it. I have ensured that my mixer is unmuted, along w/ my TV. I've had this issue w/ every single upgrade! Any suggestions?
