xxx@Lenovo:~$ ls -ila /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8188efw.bin
ls: cannot access /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8188efw.bin: No such file or
directory

1. I am not sure where to find this package and how to install it. There
isn't much out there on rtl8188 (there is a bunch of info on rtl8192,
but I'm not sure how different those are). Is "nonfree" the same thing
as "Multiverse repository"? Could you provide/point me to detailed
instructions.

2. If you mean "sudo apt-get update", yes, I've done it. If not, please
explain.

Thank you.
