I'm pretty sure I was running the latest BIOS (I recall lots of hassle getting FreeDOS as a boot environment to install the windows-only package - I don't have windows on this machine). However, there's good news, my current configuration (Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 Saucy) with repository updates of the kernel and Xorg-edgers doesn't seem to have the problem.
For reference for pointing devices on this model, there is a separate issue with the trackpad (built-in) when on battery power which remains, but I'm suspicious that's to do with it not working when it isn't properly grounded (e.g. an electronics/physics issue, not a kernel module). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1060029 Title: Wired trackball fails while on battery power (module unload issue?)
