want to install the following two .dpkg packages, and then reboot into
the new kernel:
linux-image-3.11.0-2-generic_3.11.0-2.5~lp1210848_amd64.deb
linux-image-extra-3.11.0-2-generic_3.11.0-2.5~lp1210848_amd64.deb
The .deb packages can be install using the dpkg command with sudo and
the -i option. For example:
sudo dpkg -i linux-image-3.11.0-2-generic_3.11.0-2.5~lp1210848_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i linux-image-extra-3.11.0-2-generic_3.11.0-2.5~lp1210848_amd64.deb
