I confirm this problem. Previously, when configuring the VPN connection, there was a tick box "autoconnect", which did not work at all (bug 280571). This has been replaced by a tick-box in the network configuration dialog "Automatically connect to VPN when using this connection". Although this does what it says, it breaks another feature: Network Manager does no longer auto-connect to a network, if this option is set.
