The issue is indeed an intermittent crash. I've just recently upgraded to Raring, under Precise it was happening with an exponential distribution with a mean of about 1 crash per 24 hours of play time. My banshee file list was built under 12.04, and then I upgraded to 13.04. I've asked banshee to redo its search for music files.
