Steps to reproduce: 1. Nvidia card connected to two monitors with the latest proprietary driver (nvidia) 2. Start nvidia-settings as root. 3. Configure the two monitors as separate X screens. 4. Save configuration to the xorg.conf file. 3. Restart the gnome/unity session -> The second monitor should be white, and the cursor a simple x.
