Hi Christopher, I don't have time to try running the latest development release at the moment, or more specifically I don't have the time to set up a copy of the latest development release to be configured the same as the affected machine.
The crash report referred to Java (Aug 30 11:50:49 swombat kernel: [67837.896605] Pid: 27640, comm: java Tainted) and I considered what Java applications I run regularly that might be helping the kernel oops to occur. I regularly run only Netbeans and the validator.nu HTML5 validator as a service. The HTML 5 validator provides a service served via Jetty 6.1.26. I've not see the issue occur again, although I have since had a further kernel panic but the information for that was not logged in /var/log/syslog and so I wasn't able to gather any relevant information. I don't believe it was the same issue.
