I've finally had some more time to look at this. I've had a proper look at Joseph's suggestion of installing the version 3.11 kernel which seems to have resolved the problem.
I downloaded the following files: linux-headers-3.11.0-031100rc6_3.11.0-031100rc6.201308181835_all /home/steve/Desktop/ubuntu/linux- headers-3.11.0-031100rc6-generic_3.11.0-031100rc6.201308181835_i386.deb linux-image-3.11.0-031100rc6-generic_3.11.0-031100rc6.201308181835_i386 Copied them into a folder then from a terminal session I went into the folder and ran sudo dpkg -i *.deb I have rebooted and tested it twice now so it looks like it's fixed. When I rebooted I was presented with an error message relating to Bluetooth though although I've not rebooted since the error occurred. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1213348 Title: Fan too fast on HP 6910p after standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1213348/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
