I had a similar issue; however, my '/' file system in reality only had
around 7% of a 200GB partition full. I mention "in reality", because df
reported that 0 blocks were free and it was 100% full !?! After lots of
dinking around to delete old linux images and rebooting, it eventually
and for no apparent reason started to properly show the free space...
Rebooting again to get rid of the "overflow" /tmp, then everything
proceeded OK...
